In order to complete the Certificate III in Individual Support you will need to undertake 120 hours of Vocational Placement or Industry Employment. This gives you the opportunity to put the theory into practice and experience what a career in Community Services actually looks like.

The Horizon2 team are constantly working with great Community Sector Employers to seek out opportunities for either employment or unpaid Vocational Placement for our students.

We invite employers who are actively looking for staff to meet our students.  This provides you with a link to employers looking for great people. This is your chance to SHINE, show employers how professional you are, and kick start your career.

– Police checks
Industry standards state that all employees must have regular police checks done. You will need to present your current Police Check Certificate when you begin Vocational Placement and when you begin employment. Most employers now will only accept a Police Check if it was issued within the last 3 months. We will submit the Police Check for you as a part of your Certificate III course.

In 2021 the Government introduced a new check for the Disability Sector – the NDIS Worker Screening Check.  As a part of your program Horizon2 will assist you to apply for this mandatory probity check.

– QLD Blue Card
The majority of employers will require you to present a QLD Blue Card before they agree to Host you for Vocational Placement. We will submit the application on your behalf.

The course units are selected with input from employers to ensure you cover the material which is most relevant for employment. The Certificate III course includes 13 units of which 7 are core units. The remaining 6 are selected to ensure you get a positive response from potential employers.
